As I write this, I'm on the verge of returning to the UK. I fly out on Friday afternoon (that's tomorrow), and I don't have a confirmed job lined up for September yet. I will be back in Kyiv, though, mainly because of the people I know here (including somebody pretty special...). I'm packing up my stuff as I write, so I thought I'd just mention this on the blog now, since it's been nearly a month since my last update.

An awful lot has happened since the last post, most of which I'm not willing to write about on a public blog. I can mention some of the nice things that have happened, though. My fellow teachers held a barbecue ('shashlik') in my honour, in the same place that I had a barbecue before (mentioned in my 25th April update). It was a great barbecue, and I had a lovely time. I just went on holiday to Crimea with my ladyfriend (pics later, though I will black out any instances of me or her, for privacy reasons), which was wonderful. A few other things too.

I'll mention some of those things now, in addition to a handful of pics. First, on 30th May it was Kyiv Day, or something. So many people were out in force, along with fancy cars, stalls selling food, drink and tourist crap, and other stuff too. Interesting. This is Khreschatik.

On 7th June, we went to the park behind Dynamo Stadium, and there's this thing shaped like a big leaf. There were loads of young people dancing and playing music, as you can see. An unexpected sight, indeed. There was a nasty thunderstorm after this, though, so they probably went home.

This is a scene near a shop close to KPI. I don't know why the street was flooded, but I took a picture anyway. I know, it's not that interesting, but still.

A heater in one of the rooms in the school. It looks like a face! Lawl.

And finally, a nice sunset after the shashlik I told you about. A poignant photo to end the update, and my time for the moment in Kyiv. But I'll be back.
